The JLECT team is passionate and dedicated, with many years’ experience in teaching PSHE. Whilst they share a common skill-base, each has their own specialism within PSHE, for example, Drugs and Alcohol Education, Sex and Relationships Education, Safety and Safeguarding, and Cyber and Homophobic Bullying.

JLECT aims to improve subject knowledge and teaching skills for those leading and delivering PSHE work in both Primary and Secondary Schools, and we always do our best to make training as useful and practical as possible for the classroom.

RE remains a statutory duty and most schools understand the strong contribution of RE to Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development, as well as to personal and academic development and social cohesion.

The JLECT team understands the challenges RE poses and supports schools in various ways: by providing teaching materials to ease the planning process whilst retaining space for creativity; and by offering training and support to teachers and subject leaders.

Learning happens best when those delivering and receiving the teaching are emotionally literate and well. Similarly, learning is often hampered or rendered almost impossible when poor mental health and/or emotional problems get in the way. Schools understand this, and JLECT supports them to:

  • Build children’s emotional literacy and resilience
  • Raise staff awareness of emotional/mental health issues
  • Upskill staff to support children and young people who are experiencing such issues
  • Develop effective preventative work through the PSHE curriculum.
